Program Description

Habitat partners with low income families to provide permanent housing. Habitat holds the mortgage and there is no interest and no cost. We also arrange for homeowner insurance and collect escrow for insurance and taxes.

Eligibility Requirements and Important Information

To qualify, families must fall within the extremely low, very low or low income guidelines (HUD); demonstrate a need for affordable housing (usually this means that they live in substandard, overcrowded or over priced rentals); be willing to partner with Habitat (put in 300 hours of sweat equity building their own and other Habitat houses plus attending education sessions); and live or work in Martin County for at least one year. We do check credit, employment and permanent resident status.
