Program Description

Victims who suffered personal physical psychiatric or psychological injury as the result of a crime could qualify for the following benefits: Wage loss, loss of support, disability allowance, funeral/burial and related expenses, treatment expenses, prescriptions, eyeglasses, dentures, or prosthetic devices, mental health counseling, property loss reimbursemet for elderly, domestic violence relocation.

Eligibility Requirements and Important Information

Who can apply? A victim or intervenor, a surviving spouse, parent, child or sibling of a deceased victim. A guardian applying for a minor, child, victim, incompetent person, surviving minor child of a deceased victim, surviving minor siblings of a deceased victim, minors less than 16 years old that were present at the scene of a violent crime, who saw or heard the crime, and suffered psychological or psychiatric injury as a result of the crime. A relatvie applying on behalf of a deceased victim when there is no other source for payment of funeral expenses. Any other person who is dependent for his or her principal support upon a deceased victim or intervenor. All information submitted with this complaint is subject to public inspection pursuant to Chapter 119, Florida Statutes. Whoever knowingly makes a false statement in writing with the intent to mislead a public servant in the performance of his official duty shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 837.06, Florida Statutes.
