Program Description

Dedicated to helping women who suffer from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, including postpartum depression, the most common complication of childbirth. We also work to educate family, friends and health care providers so that moms and moms-to-be can get the support they need to recover.

Prenatal (pregnancy) depression and/or anxiety can occur in up to 12 out of 100 pregnant women The joys of pregnancy can be clouded by feelings of fear, sadness and confusion, which are often hidden in silence and denial. It is extremely important to let your care provider know how you are feeling so he or she can help you before your baby is born. Thorough review of your medical, surgical and obstetric history, with a focus on your recent delivery Questions about breastfeeding issues (if applicable) Postpartum depression screening Evaluation of bowel or bladder problems (if applicable) Pain assessment Postpartum-sensitive physical exam Education on your anatomy and the possible tear you experienced An individualized healing plan
