Program Description

The Sexual Assault Assistance Program respects victims and assures that anyone who is available to assist them will be trained and supervised as a professional staff member of the Program. | Training is provided by program staff and representatives of agencies who work with the Sexual Assault Assistance Program. | Training sessions are held several times during the year. A background and criminal records check is completed on each prospective volunteer to ensure safety for the victims served.

* Attend a 40+ hour training, which includes the required Florida Council Against Sexual Violence Advocacy Core Training | * Attend quarterly staff meetings and continuing education | * Follow all policies and procedures of the Sexual Assault Assistance Program * Sign a confidentiality pledge. Volunteer response can mean the difference between the road to recovery and years of trauma for the victim. Victims of sexual violence frequently feel alone, so our volunteers help victims understand that there are people to help, to care and provide support.
