Program Description

I AM Academy is a K-12 private school of Special Education. Our students receive a quality individual education which includes social and life skills. We accept functioning levels from mild, moderate to severe intellectual and developmental disabilities. We keep a 3:1 teacher-student ratio. We do NOT restrain, seclude or use aversives and all students are treated with dignity and respect. We are not just another school, We are Family!! I AM Academy is a special education school that provides individualized services in a safe, nurturing and supportive environment. I AM Academy aims to help students achieve to the best of their abilities, the skills necessary for success at home, school environments and the community at large. In addition, I AM Academy believes that all children with disabilities should grow up free from the use of aversive interventions, restraints and seclusion to respond to or control their behavior, and free from the fear that these forms of behavior management will be used on themselves, their siblings or their friends. Because we believe that our students can and will learn to control their own behavior, we don't feel the need to control them. ALL children especially our most vulnerable should be able to attend school free from harm. An education shouldn't hurt...
