Program Description

Did you know that Handwriting helps kids focus? As cited in a 2012 study in the journal Child Development, Handwriting supports executive function by engaging a child?s attention and developing their ability to focus. Handwriting is a complex skill. According to the American Journal of Occupational Therapy in January 2000, " Competent handwriting depends on the maturation and integration of cognitive, visual-perceptual, and fine motor skills ." According to a study found in the Elsevier, Vol 25, Oct 2016, the movement of handwriting helps people learn to recognize the letters more than just learning them visually. "Recent data support the idea that movements play a crucial role in letter representation and suggest that handwriting knowledge contributes to visual recognition of letters".

The Fun Handwriting Group runs for a 6 week session to help improve your child's legibility and neatness. During this group, your child will work on spacing, letter height, letter formation, line adherence and letter size, all in a fun filled way! Handwriting Helpers Handwriting Groups are filled with fun games, sensory activities, fine motor challenges and crafts to get your child excited about writing. Class size is limited to 5 students for greater success for each level! Each class is 30 Minutes. The cost is $150 +$10 for materials. Missed Sessions are not reimbursed.
